What is the LABCDE approach?
The LABCDE approach is a systematic method used in pre-hospital trauma care to assess and treat patients quickly and effectively. It stands for:- Life Threatening Situation – mitigate dangers to yourself and the injured person
- Life Threatening Bleeding – stop massive bleedings
- Airway – open the airway, be careful of spinal injuries
- Breathing – check for injuries to the thorax
- Circulation – stop all bleedings
- Disability – level of consciousness
- Exposure – Examine head to toe, then protect against elements and possible hypothermia
